May 27, 2014, Newburyport, Mass. – Pilot Communications Group, LLC, an integrated communications agency targeting emerging and small to medium sized businesses, today announced Emmy-honored Jay Childs has joined the firm as director of video services. With the addition of Jay to the Pilot team, the firm is now offering full video production capabilities – including multi-camera live web streaming, HD video and access to a broad network of performing talent.
“Jay has been living the ‘every picture tells a story’ mantra for more than 20 years as principal at his own Portsmouth, N.H. production studio — JBC Communications,” said Jim Barbagallo, Pilot’s founder and CEO. “With Jay leading the way, we’re now able to provide clients with powerful, visual story-telling capabilities – an ideal complement to the firm’s content development and communications consulting capabilities.”
Childs has built an outstanding reputation for his diverse video production capabilities and expertise. He worked with the UMASS Lowell marketing team to produce the enthusiastic UMASS Pre-Tour Video and with Unitil, public utility, to produce Unitil Directional Drill Film — a dramatic video chronicling the efforts of engineers to enhance the state’s Spaulding Turnpike. His “Caring For Mo” documentary, which captured a nurse’s courageous battle with breast cancer, was nominated for an Emmy by the New England Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences.
“Video enhances and fits in perfectly with Pilot’s channel-neutral approach to integrated communications,” Childs said. “The ability to seamlessly offer visual story-telling to what the Pilot team already provides to customers — communications strategy, media and analyst relations, content development, public affairs and government relations — is a major benefit to the brands we serve, whether their goals are to boost sales, secure Series A funding, get acquired, or just generate greater awareness and preference.”
Childs has produced branding, marketing, sales, TV spot, training and educational programs for brands such as Timberland, Irving Oil, Segway, HP, GT Solar, Unitil, Woolrich, Textron, Lakes Region Healthcare, Phillips Exeter Academy, UMass Lowell, and Bank of Maine, among others. He founded JBC Communications in 1997.
Video production capabilities include HD video production (full lighting, audio packages, and production crews), nonlinear HD post-production, full multi-camera live web streaming, a network of performing talent including on-camera spokespeople and voice-over narrators, a complete digital production music library and audio effects, among other capabilities.
