Jim Barbagallo, owner
Jim brings together 30 years of strategic and hands-on communications and marketing experience. Following four years as a journalist and more than a decade of corporate communications experience, including a long-term position at HP, Jim shifted his career path to the agency side. His PR agency career kicked off in 1998 at Copithorne & Bellows (C&B), a leading global tech PR firm that lived up to its promise of keeping senior professionals deeply involved with client work. Agency clients included HP, Iomega, EMC, Philips Semiconductor, Network Associates, Qualcomm and Mitel, among many others. Following the firm’s merger with global firm Porter Novelli, Jim served as a partner at the agency and as a managing director of its Boston office. In this position, Jim led global communications initiatives for clients including HP, BMC Software, 3Com, Mitel, Genuity and Analog Devices, and helped launch and establish a number of emerging companies. After 11 years at Porter Novelli and before forming Pilot, Jim helped launch a start-up tech communications consultancy, served as managing director at reputation communications firm Morrissey & Company and led client relations for PAN Communications.
Today, Jim’s focus is on the strategic and tactical communications needs of emerging companies as well as established small and medium size companies. He has expertise in managing corporate “life cycle” events, including the IPO process, management succession and crisis communications. In addition, Jim leads his clients’ social media efforts, content generation, media and influencer relations. He holds a B.A. in English from Merrimack College.
